SUKE
SUKEは折り畳んだ状態から広がって自立するアクリル端材のテーブル。脚の乳白色のアクリル板の接合部は和紙で繋がれており、線が入っている。アクリル板は私たちの日常に溶け込み、つい見過ごしてしまう。今回いただいた端材の中でも細く長い乳白色のアクリル板が魅力的に感じた。光に当てた時の透け感は白くぼけた表情が美しい。光の当たる位置や角度によって見え方も変わり、これらが複数同時に楽しめるように屏風の構造を取り入れた。こうすることで、一枚一枚にできる透け感と互いに作る影が、よりアクリル板を引き立てる。アクリル板には木の木目のような線を入れ、光の線の模様を作った。これも見る角度により、見えたり見えなかったりする。

SUKE is a table made from acrylic scraps that unfolds from a folded state and stands on its own. The joints of the milky white acrylic panels of the legs are connected with Japanese paper, which has lines running through them. Acrylic panels blend into our daily lives and are often overlooked. Of the scraps I received this time, I found the long, thin milky white acrylic panel particularly appealing. When held up to light, it has a beautiful, blurred white appearance that is translucent. The appearance changes depending on the position and angle of the light, and I incorporated a folding screen structure so that multiple panels can be enjoyed at the same time. In this way, the transparency of each panel and the shadows they cast on each other further highlight the acrylic panels. Lines resembling the grain of wood have been added to the acrylic panels to create a pattern of lines of light. These can also be seen or hidden depending on the angle from which you view them.
